Why Is CPS Secure Remote Access Increasingly Crucial to CPS Security?

In recent years, badged employees as well as third-party vendors and OEMs have become accustomed to remotely accessing CPS and other critical systems. This remote connectivity offers many advantages but, if the necessary access and security controls are not in place, it can increase risk and lead to potentially disastrous consequences. The report states:
